Mumbai, January 24, 2010: Youth Wing of Brahma Kumaris celebrates Silver Jubilee Celebration of Youth
Services. Under this theme the Youth Committee organized Youth Peace Walk on 24th January 2010. The
Peace March was inaugurated and flagged off by the Shri Prakash Sawant, MLA, Corporator Bandra (E) and
Assistant Municipal Commissioner – Mr. Cyclewala from MIG Club Ground, Bandra East to Muktanand Peace Park,
Santacruz West.
Youth Wing of Brahma Kumaris since 1985 has been doing various activities for the overall development of Youth.
In this silver jubilee year, the youth committee has decided to bring awakening among the youth to bring peace
and harmony by adopting values. This initiative was carried out with the aim of motivating the youth to
participate in the rally and knowing their roles well for becoming a true harbinger to bring these values at
societal and national level.
More than 500 youths (15years to 35 years) participated in the walk conveying the message of peace and creating
awareness about how to reduce the increased number of suicidal acts amongst children by practicing Rajyoga Meditation.
The Peace walk started from MIG Club Ground, Bandra East and concluded at Muktanand Peace Park, Santacruz West.
The procession led by motorbikes followed by group of male and female youths of Brahma Kumaris institution, Mumbai
university, MET Institute of Pharmacy, Youth forums & associations, NSS groups, military schools and other leading
educational institutions. The youth were holding flags, placards and banners bearing lovely peace slogans. The
procession reached the main gate of the Muktanand garden and entered the park through a Human Peace Tunnel formed by
BK brothers and sisters and 5 girls dressed as little angels holding placards of peace welcomed the rally.
Speaking on this occasion the Assistant Municipal Commissioner – Mr. Cyclewala said that,"This is a very human initiative
by Brahma Kumaris and I truly believe youth can turn around the world. I extend my support to Brahma Kumaris for this noble
cause of creating peace and harmony in the world".
On this initiative Brahma Kumari Kamlesh, State Youth Coordinator of Brahma Kumaris Youth Wing said that, "The call
of time indicates self transformation which will lead to world transformation and the best way to induce this change is
through youth. The main motive of this drive is awakening of masses for integrating peace and harmony by adopting moral
values in self".
Brahma Kumari Meera, Director Brahmakumaris Santacruz & associated centres shared that, "At present there are increasing
number of suicidal cases amongst young children and we want to educate and alert today’s youth about their potential and value
of being a youth through proper guidance, consultations and experience sharing through the practice of Rajyog Meditation that
will help them live a motivated life with change positive perspective about themselves and their life".
